Playing in the Kitchen

Experimentation

Today I had a bit of time in the kitchen to do some experimenting. I have been doing a lot of reading lately about ketosis. Ketosis is the state your body is in when it is utilizing fat as your main source of fuel rather than carbohydrates or sugar.  This is of course is accomplished by maintaining low carbohydrates, a reasonable amount of protein and high fats! YES, I will say it again HIGH FAT!!!! The more I have begun to switch over to this way of eating the more I have realized what a psychological game it is. We have all been told fat is BAD, and growing up that’s all I thought. If I don’t have too much fat I should be healthy and fit. But the more I have investigated this, this is not the reality. Fat is a great source of fuel for the body if you get it from the right sources, ie. Coconut oil, coconut milk, organic grass fed butter or ghee, avocado and grass fed animals. These are all excellent sources to fuel your body with rather than being on a high carb sugar loaded diet where you continually crash and then to get out of that crash have to have more carbs or sugars. Talk about a vicious cycle.

So, with all that being said today I went to work playing with an old recipe I always make and introduced organic butter or ghee.

Old Recipe:
1 cup nut butter
2 tbsp honey
1/4 cupish coconut flour
1/4-1/2 cup chia seeds for coating

New Recipe:
1 cup nut butter
1/4 cup organic butter/ghee
1 tsp honey/stevia
1/4-1/2 cup coconut flour
1/4-1/2 cup chia seeds for coating

Check them out, they are extremely tasty and much more filling!

I also decreased the amount of sugar because sugars of course hold a lot of carbs.

Call me crazy if you want for adding the dairy fat but do a little research yourself I think you will be shocked at what you find.

Have a good one everyone! Almost Friday for you 9-5ers  J
